AMY H. LIU

I am a professor and the Interim Department Chair in the Government Department at the University of Texas at Austin. My research and teaching focus on the intersection of language and politics – whether the politics of language (e.g., the recognition of different languages and the effects of this recognition) or the language of politics (e.g., how leaders talk and how people think). I have done fieldwork in Asia, Europe, and the United States – often through the empirical lens of the Chinese diaspora, Chinese language, or Greater China. For more information, see the \books\ and \research\ tabs. I have also posted course information and some past syllabuses under the \teaching\ tab.
